Silver Leaf Tree Service is a locally owned and operated by Sterling J. Daniel, Arborist based in Gainesville, Florida, serving the Gainesville area and surrounding communities in North Central Florida. We offer year-round tree work specializing in tree and plant health and preservation.

Sterling, grew up in Vermont’s Green Mountains. His family home is surrounded by Woodlands from which his family harvests the wood needed to warm their home during the long Vermont winters. Homesteading is a way of life—which meant/means cutting trees, splitting and stacking 10 cords of wood as well as pruning and maintaining the family orchard.

Since childhood he participated in the long-held tradition of cutting down the annual Christmas tree-trudging through the deep snow till they found and felled the perfect one. Then he hitched a ride, nestled in the large evergreen boughs of the tree itself while his father and older brother dragged the tree home.

Imagine the surprise when at the tender age of nine he espied a small chainsaw under the tree! He was now old enough to officially join in the land management, culling diseased trees, climbing high to prune unsightly branches and surveying the land vis-a-vis the work to be done to maintain and safeguard the health, safety, and aesthetics of the property. He has been climbing ever since.

After many years of working in the northeast, sick and tired of the gray, cold, icy endless winters, Sterling relocated to Gainesville, Florida, to pursue his dream of building a life in Florida and starting his own business. He established Silver Leaf Tree Service in January 2019, and has proudly served the Gainesville area with his years of expertise and knowledge.

His passion for trees knew/knows no bounds as he continues to learn more about the biology, growth patterns, and behavior of trees—investing in the best tools to do the best job and always learning the latest techniques to add to his ‘tried and true’ methods.

As a creative thinker and problem solver, Sterling’s on site evaluations and assessments are invaluable. These along with Sterling’s experience and knowledge will help guide you in your decision as to whether the tree needs removing, pruning, or nourishment. His respect for the tree and their natural habitat as well as the client, guides him in his assessment. He will also assist you in establishing a regular maintenance program, assuring the tree job will be done correctly.
